In Austria, Knorr-Bremse GmbH has about 770 employees at two sites as well as 410 employees at its sites in the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, and the Czech Republic.

In addition to its Mödling corporate headquarters, Knorr-Bremse also operates Knorr-Bremse Division IFE Automatic Door Systems in Kematen/Austria. Its subsidiaries Dr. techn. J. Zelisko GmbH and Skach GmbH are also located in Mödling. Dr. techn. J. Zelisko GmbH develops and manufactures instrument transformers, signalling systems for rail and road as well as traffic management systems, supplying customers all over the world. Skach GmbH provides commercial vehicle customers in Lower Austria with original part.

Within the Group, the Austrian Knorr-Bremse GmbH possesses the development competency for magnetic track brakes, eddy current brakes, flange devices, windscreen wiper and washing systems, sanding systems, wheel flange lubrication and brake test units, all of which are also manufactured at its Mödling site. Additionally, the company is responsible for the distribution of rail vehicle systems in 14 Central and Eastern European countries and operates its own branches in Poland and Romania.
